Mary Jane (Janie) Irwin is an Evan Pugh Professor and holder of the A. Robert Noll Chair in Engineering in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Penn State University. She has been on the faculty at Penn State since completing her Ph.D. in computer science from The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1977. Her research and teaching interests include computer architecture, embedded and mobile computing systems design, power and reliability aware design, and emerging technologies in computing systems. She has published over 300 technical papers and has graduated more than twenty-five PhD students.
